FISCAL 2006 THIRD QUARTER RESULTS
IRVINE,
CA. - February 9, 2006
Raining
Data Corporation (Nasdaq: RDTA) today announced financial results
for the third quarter of fiscal year 2006. Net revenues for
the three and nine-month periods ended December 31, 2005 were
$5.3 million and $15.2 million as compared to $5.7 million and
$16.0 million for the same three and nine-month periods in the
prior year. Net revenues increased by $0.7 million in the current
quarter as compared to the prior quarter. The Company’s quarter
and year-to-date operating loss was breakeven and $0.4 million
for the three and nine-month periods ended December 31, 2005
and breakeven and $0.4 million for the three and nine-month
periods ended December 31, 2004, respectively. Loss per share
was $0.01 in both the current year quarter and the prior year
quarter and was $0.06 for the nine-month period ended December
31, 2005 as compared to $0.07 for the nine-month period ended
December 31, 2004.
Cash
balance was $9.7 million at December 31, 2005 compared to $9.0
million at December 31, 2004. Working capital was $5.0 million
at December 31, 2005, up $0.7 million from $4.3 million at December
31, 2004. The Company computes working capital as total current
assets less current liabilities.
Earnings
before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (“EBITDA”)
for the quarter was breakeven and negative $0.2 million for
the three and nine month periods ended December 31, 2005 as
compared to $0.5 and $1.6 million for the same periods in the
prior year, primarily as a result of increased investment in
R&D in the current year. The Company computes EBITDA, as
reflected in the table appearing at the end of this press release,
by adding depreciation, amortization, non-cash stock-based compensation
expense, interest expense, other (income) expense and income
taxes to its GAAP reported net loss.
