TigerLogic
XML Data Management Server Brings Higher-Performance XML Information
Aggregation To BEA WebLogic Platform Customers
IRVINE,
Calif. - Aug. 4, 2003
Raining
Data Corporation Alliance With BEA Extends Functionality of
BEA WebLogic Enterprise Platform Through XML Data Store
Raining Data Corporation (Nasdaq: RDTA), a long-time provider
of scalable, flexible and reliable data management software,
today announced integration of its TigerLogic XML Data Management
Server (XDMS) with the BEA WebLogic Enterprise Platform™,
including BEA Liquid Data for WebLogic™ 8.1, BEA WebLogic
Integration™ 8.1 and BEA WebLogic Portal™ 8.1. Today’s
announcement supports the recent availability of BEA WebLogic
Platform™ 8.1, an integrated platform that delivers rapid
business integration through the convergence of application
development and integration, from BEA Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:
BEAS).
The TigerLogic XDMS allows customers of the BEA WebLogic Enterprise
Platformä to persist data in a native XML store. The product
stores these resulting data views directly in the mid-tier –
between front-end Web clients and back-end operational systems
– so they can be retrieved rapidly. Internal tests show TigerLogic
XDMS performs as much as 10 times faster in finding and presenting
XML data when compared to other data management alternatives.
This performance boost is achieved through patent-pending indexing
and profiling technology.
The
TigerLogic XDMS also increases efficiency by decoupling data
from its back-end sources and leverages BEA’s integration infrastructure
for updating the XML records in the mid-tier as changes are
made at the sources. This means BEA Liquid Data, BEA WebLogic
Integration or BEA WebLogic Portal products’ requests for relatively
static information such as product terms and periodic financial
research will touch back-end systems far less frequently, preserving
precious enterprise processing power for the most critical data
requests – those that need real-time answers or change data
on the fly.
Finally,
and perhaps most importantly, the combination of TigerLogic
XDMS and BEA WebLogic Enterprise Platform can reduce customers’
data management costs substantially by shifting processing from
the expensive back-end resources to the mid-tier of enterprise
Java and XML application architectures while minimizing development
and maintenance costs.
“The
growth of Web Services and composite applications produces far
more data than traditional systems were designed to handle,
which leaves millions of terabytes sitting idly when such information
could provide real business-changing intelligence,” said Boris
Geller, vice president of market development at Raining Data.
“By adopting XML and working with BEA products to further extend
the capabilities of the BEA WebLogic Enterprise Platform, our
TigerLogic XDMS is changing the way IT staff think about data
architectures in much the same way that Java application servers
changed the nature of application architectures in the late
1990s.”
“We’re
pleased that Raining Data is working with BEA WebLogic Enterprise
Platform to bring higher-performance XML information aggregation
to our customers,” said Scott Edgington, vice president and
general manager, global software partners.
