FISCAL 2005 FIRST QUARTER RESULTS

Raining
Data Corporation (Nasdaq: RDTA) today announced financial results
for the first quarter of fiscal year 2005. Net revenues for
the quarter ended June 30, 2004 were $5.2 million as compared
to $5.4 million for the same period in the prior year. The Company
improved its operating loss for the first quarter to $0.1 million
compared to a loss of $0.2 million for the first quarter in
the prior year. Loss per share for the quarter improved to $0.02
for the three months ended June 30, 2004 as compared to a loss
per share of $0.03 in the same period in the prior year.
Cash
balances increased to $8.3 million at June 30, 2004 from $7.8
million at March 31, 2004. Cash flow from operating activities
improved by $1.0 million to $0.6 million for the year three
months ended June 30, 2004 compared to negative $0.4 million
for the same period in the prior fiscal year.
Earnings
before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (“EBITDA”)
for the three months ended June 30, 2004 was $0.7 million or
13% of revenue as compared to $0.6 million or 11% of revenue
for the same period in the prior year. The Company computes
EBITDA, as reflected in the table appearing at the end of this
press release, by adding depreciation, intangible and non-goodwill
amortization and non-cash stock-based compensation expense to
its GAAP reported net loss. The Company also reconciles EBITDA
to the GAAP disclosure of net cash provided by (used for) operating
activities.
