Raining Data is pleased to announce the general availability of Omnis Studio 4.3, available for download today. This latest release fully supports Windows Vista and Mac OS X "Leopard" and offers native support for PostgreSQL, improved Unicode datafile conversion, enhancements to the Omnis VCS and an overall improved Web application developer and end user experience.

Key New Features and Enhancements Include:

Windows Vista and MAC OS X Leopard
Omnis Studio 4.3 supports the Windows Vista and Mac OS X operating systems for development and deployment licenses, integrating more closely with the native “look and feel” of these new platforms.

.NET Objects
Omnis Studio 4.3 allows you to call functionality within the Microsoft .NET Framework or third party class libraries. Support for .NET is provided via the .NET Objects external component.

PostgreSQL DAM
A new Omnis DAM supports connections to the PostgreSQL database, an open source relational database system released under a BSD-style license. This provides Omnis developers the ability to access yet another alternative database system.

Unicode Data File Conversion
The Unicode version of Omnis Studio 4.3 has a full data file converter, which converts the character data in your Omnis data files and rebuilds the indexes.

New Graph Types
Gauge and meter style graphs have been added to the Graph2 component.

Omnis VCS Enhancements
The Method Inspector is a new tool in the Omnis VCS that allows you to examine the methods in a class and view the code in each method. The VCS also supports scheduled builds and provides support for library names in superclass names.

Web Client support for Windows Safari
The Web Client plug-in is now supported on the Windows version of Safari, recently released by Apple. In addition, there is now only one Windows Web Client installer (omweb.exe) that installs the Web Client for all supported browsers into one folder.

Linux Enhancements
A number of enhancements have been made to the Linux version of Omnis Studio. These enhancements include improved printing, improved font handling and other user interface elements.

License Updates
Customers currently under an Omnis Developer Partner Program (ODPP) may receive the Omnis Studio 4.3 SDK and deployment license updates free of charge. Customers not currently under an ODPP may purchase Omnis Studio 4.3 SDK and deployment license updates at a discount of 20% off the current list price. No further discounts apply.
