We are pleased to announce the general availability of FlashCONNECT version 3.7, ready for distribution today.

FlashCONNECT is Raining Data's middleware connectivity tool that allows you to take your existing Pick-based applications to the Web. FlashCONNECT 3.7 delivers significant improvements in open connectivity making it a desirable platform for accessing your application via the Internet, intranet, or extranet using a standard Browser.

What’s New in FlashCONNECT 3.7?

• Support for RedHat Enterprise Server 4
• Enhanced reliability of FC servers during startup, running, and reconnecting phases
• Debug tracing for FCCGI and FCISAPI
• Enhanced upgrade process for mvBase platform
• Corrects broken pipe issues following browser Stop/Reload
• Corrects random server disconnect issues on D³ AIX platforms
• Corrects gradual system performance degradation with multiple connections
• Corrects “WaitDB” slot issue when using multiple servers

Overall, FlashCONNECT 3.7 brings enhancements to the performance and functionality of the product and combines a collection of patches and product fixes reported to our technical support department. Further details can be found on the Documentation pages of our Web site.

Availability

FlashCONNECT 3.7 supports applications running on AIX, Linux and Windows-based Web servers and is compatible with the following D³ and mvBase releases (be sure to verify compatibility with your O/S prior to installing FlashCONNECT 3.7)

• D³ NT version 7.4 with Service Pack 3 or later
• D³ UNIX version 7.3 with ABS Patch 7.3.A106 or later
• D³ UNIX version 7.4 with ABS Patch 7.4.A137 or later
• mvBase 2.0 with Patch Set 3 or later on Windows platform

Update Pricing

• For FlashCONNECT server licenses currently covered under a Software Maintenance Agreement (SMA), the FlashCONNECT 3.7 update is available at no charge.
• For FlashCONNECT server licenses with no SMA in place, the FlashCONNECT 3.7 update may be obtained by purchasing a FlashCONNECT SMA (re-enrollment fees may apply).

Purchase Requirements for a FlashCONNECT Server License

• The FlashCONNECT server license may be purchased at the current list price of $1,995 plus the purchase of a FlashCONNECT SMA. The current list price for this SMA is $750 for the Platinum Support option and $500 for the Gold Support option.
• The database license must be covered under a SMA. If a database SMA is not in place, then the purchase of a new SMA on the database license is required (re-enrollment fees apply).
• Database licenses under an SMA will have their FlashCONNECT SMA prorated to be coterminous with the existing database SMA.
• The database SMA and the FlashCONNECT SMA must be held concurrently.
