mvBase
2.0 & mvEnterprise 4.1
Raining Data is pleased to announce new
Releases of our database products, mvEnterprise 4.1 for
AIX and mvBase 2.0, both in production. Both of these
MV products are first time releases developed by Raining
Data since we acquired the rights from GA Express. These
releases center on operational support and incorporates
many resolved issues based on customer feedback.
mvBase
2.0 in Production
mvBase
2.0 is a Major Release of this popular database product.
In addition to core enhancements to the reliability and
performance of the product for the Windows environment,
mvBase also delivers web-enabling capabilities with the
addition of FlashCONNECT and mvDesigner support. This
functionality allows developers and users to move their
character-based applications to the web or Windows GUI
client/server environments. Please contact your sales
representative for the latest availability of mvDesigner
2.0 for mvBase, which is currently in Beta.
mvEnterprise
4.1 in Production
Featured
in the mvEnterprise 4.1 release is the Virtual/Pseudotape
support that allows users to direct input and output to
a user-created file on a disk drive, instead of a physical
tape or Ethertape device. This new command format allows
specification of the input/output disk file, filtering
commands, and other elements of the new virtual tape interface.
Virtual tape output files can be copied, moved, compressed,
FTP'd, encrypted, archived, emailed, or burned to CD-ROM,
just like any native UNIX-level file. This eliminates
the need to send physical tapes from place to place to
transfer mvEnterprise virtual data.
mvEnterprise
offers the ease of use and hierarchical power of the MultiValue
database model, with the performance and flexibility of
UNIX. The Open Data Architecture and UNIX interoperability
tools provide a seamless interface between mvEnterprise
and UNIX.
