| Q.
|
How
is Pick Reporting Services Connector licensed? |
 |
| A. |
Pick
Reporting Services Connector has three main components: |
 |
| |
1) |
Report
Designer: This is an add-on component to Visual
Studio .NET or Visual Basic .NET, which gives end users
the ability to author reports directly connected to Pick
D3, IBM UniVerse or IBM UniData databases. The
Report Designer component includes its own Reporting Services
Report Designer Connector. A Reporting Services Deployment
Server is required for activation of this component. |
 |
| |
2) |
Reporting
Services Deployment Server:
This server component is licensed by CPU and is required
to enable Microsoft Reporting Services connectivity with
IBM UniVerse, IBM UniData and Pick D3 databases.
The Reporting Services Initial Deployment Kit includes two
Reporting Services Deployment Server Licenses and one Report
Designer with its corresponding Reporting Services Report
Designer Connection. |
 |
| |
3) |
Reporting
Services Report Deployment License:
Additional deployment connections may be added to an existing
Reporting Services Deployment Server. The Reporting Services
Deployment License provides connectivity between Microsoft
Reporting Services and Pick D3, IBM UniVerse
or IBM UniData databases for report deployment. These licenses
are not consumed by the Report Designer. |

If
I have Pick Data Provider for .NET, can I upgrade my server
licenses to use Reporting Services? |

|
Yes,
you upgrade the Pick Data Provider for .NET installation
by purchasing Pick Reporting Services Connector. The Pick
Reporting Services Connector is an extension to the Pick
Data Provider for .NET product. Therefore, it must be purchased
separately. A Report Designer component can co-exist with
the Pick Data Provider for .NET. |

What
components are installed on my Pick D3, IBM UniData,

An
account called PickDP is installed on your database server.
This account serves as a bridge between your Pick accounts
and Microsoft .NET Framework, including Microsoft Reporting
Services. The Pick Data Provider for .NET Administrator
is included with the Report Designer. This DBA tool provides
access to accounts, tables and metadata definitions required
for data access. |
