MAXUSERS message may be sent to all printers

A MAXUSERS message may print in error in the following circumstances:

• Occasionally when the workstation shuts down.

• When a workstation is started prior to completion of the server’s coldstart process.

The only consequence of this message is a single-page printing of a MAXUSERS message. In these cases, the maximum number of users has not necessarily been reached. The printed notifications may be disregarded unless secondary notifications are printed subsequent to server startup or workstation shutdown.

To avoid premature printing of MAXUSERS messages, ensure that the server completes the coldstart process and printers have executed the STARTPTR command prior to starting the workstation.
