mvBase Tech Tip: # mv107
Pertinent Release(s): Release 1.2
Pertinent Windows O/S: 95 and NT

Only 99 mv·TELNET servers can be configured per workstation prior to PK1

On mvBase Release 1.2, mv·TELNET servers are numerated with two digits (e.g., Telnet 01). (mv·TELNET servers are defined in the Telnet Servers tab of the workstation, located in the Workstation tab of the Administration Utility.) This numeration allows for a maximum of 99 distinct Telnet servers to be defined in Release 1.2 (Telnet01 - Telnet99) prior to PK1 for mvBase Release 1.2.

Once Pick distributes PK1 for mvBase Release 1.2, the total potential quantity of defined mv·TELNET servers will be increased to 999. Note, however, that mvBase 1.2 (updated with PK1) is still limited to 127 simultaneous mv·TELNET connections per workstation.

Thus, if there are 127 mv·TELNET servers connected, and the user clicks the Add button again, a message box displays that the maximum number of Telnet servers (127) is already defined.

mv·TELNET servers defined prior to Release 1.2 were capable of single-digit, two-digit and three-digit numeration (e.g., Telnet1, Telnet 10, Telnet100). These existing entries are carried over when upgrading to Release 1.2. Thus, 9 single-digit (Telnet1-Telnet9) and 28 three-digit (Telnet100-Telnet127) mv·TELNET servers may be carried over from previous releases when upgrading to Release 1.2. Once single-digit or three-digit mv·TELNET servers are deleted in Release 1.2 they cannot be re-added.

A three-digit definition scheme for mv·TELNET will be introduced with mvBase Release 1.2 Patch Kit 1 allowing for a maximum of 999 mv·TELNET servers to be defined.
