Virtual
Memory Space Reduced with Service Pack 3
When Service
Pack 3 is added to a system running Windows NT 4.0, the virtual
memory space available to mvBase is reduced. This is applicable
only when the mvBase server is running as a service.
This means that the maximum database size is reduced correspondingly.
NOTE:
When running the mvBase server as an application, Service Pack
3 does not seem to have any effect.
Our recommended
solution for this issue include implementing of one of these
workarounds:
-
Upgrade
to mvBase Release 1.2.
-
Run
the mvBase 1.1 server as an application
-
Do not
upgrade to Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 3 unless it is absolutely
required.
This is
a moot point on Release 1.2, which allows a maximum allocation
to virtual memory storage files of 32,768 MB (when mvBase is
installed on a system running Windows NT). Refer to the mvBase
1.2 Installation Guide for more information regarding disk
allocation for virtual memory storage files and differing allocation
limits for Windows NT and Windows 95.
