Resolving
Stalled Output (output hangs) on Terminals connected
to Digi Terminal Concentrators using Digiboard Drivers Prior
to 2.3.0
Digiboard
drivers prior to Version 2.3.0 (known as Release S)
for Windows NT 4.0 and 3.51 appear to contribute to an output
stalling problem. This stalling problem manifests itself on
terminals connected to Digi Terminal Concentrators. No more
output appears on the terminal, including that of entered characters
being echoed. This condition usually shows up by the mvBase
process for the affected line having a persistent PIB status
of 7F20 (as displayed by the WHERE TCL command).
This
could occur in either of the following conditions:
-
The
Digi Host Adapter is physically located in the system running
the mvBase server (thus controlled by the local mvBase workstation).
-
The
Digi Host Adapter is in a different system to the mvBase
server (and thus controlled by the remote mvBase Workstation
on that remote system), although this situation has not
yet been directly observed in the field.
Digi
driver releases that have been shown to manifest this problem
include v2.1.0 (known as the R release) and v2.2.6
(the 4PS S beta release). The S release,
v.2.3.0, has been tested with mvBase and not shown to exhibit
this problem.
We
recommend implementing these actions to prevent stalled output:
-
Obtain
and install new Digiboard drivers from the Digi International
Web Site:
-
At
time of publication (12/97) the latest driver (release S)
is obtained by downloading the file 4000821S.exe. This driver
covers the following Digi products on Windows NT 3.5.1 &
4.0 on the Intel and Alpha platforms: Xe, MC/Xe, Xi, MC/Xi,
Xr, Xem, C/X and EPC/X.
-
Always
obtain the latest drivers available for your Digi product,
specific to your operating system and platform. This mvBase
Technical Tip will not be constantly updated whenever Digi
International issue drivers beyond v2.3.0.
