Errors
when attempting to start the mvBase server application from
the mvBase administration utility.
On
original versions of Windows 95, (those prior to the Windows
95 OEM Service Release 2 - W95/OSR2 -also known as the Windows
95b release), two DLLs required by mvBase were not included
as part of the operating system. The two DLLs are MSVCRT40.DLL
and MFC40.DLL and would normally be found in the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM
directory.
This
could cause the following error message to be displayed in a
popup dialog box when attempting to start the mvBase Server
as an application from the mvBase Administration utility:
"Failed
to start mvBase Server Application. Routine CreateProcess()
failed."
The
following, different, error message could also occur when attempting
to start the mvBase Server directly from the mvBase program
group off the Windows START button:
"A
required .DLL file, MSVCRT40.DLL(or MFC40.DLL), was not found."
Workaround:
The
two DLLs can be found in the mvBase install directory, subdirectory
'wstation' (e.g. C:\mvBase\wstation). Move the two DLLs to the
Windows 'system' directory (e.g. C:\Windows\System).
This
problem will be resolved on the next mvBase maintenance release.
NOTE:
It is possible that one or both of the required DLLs may have
been loaded by another software product and may be a more recent
version than the DLLs found in mvBase subdirectory 'wstation'.
Only use a DDL from mvBase if it is a newer version. To check
the version, highlight the file in the Windows Explorer, click
the right mouse button, select the properties menu item then display
the 'version' tab.
